Designing a website needs to be done with care and careful planning. You firstly need to decide what you want your visitors to do on your website such as read information, view examples of your works or even by your products and/or services online. Once you have this you can start to figure out how you are going to present that to your potential customers. Have a look at other websites in a similar industry to see what they are offering. Make notes of ideas that you see that you like and even things that you do not like. Think carefully about the business brand as this will need to be reflected in your website design.
Once you have all your ideas down you can then start to discuss them with your web designer and programmer to see if what you want is possible within your budget. If you do have to scale things down a bit you can always add them in at a later date once you have started to make money.
A website is often the first impression a customer gets of your business so it needs to be easy to navigate and interesting to get them to use it.
