Many companies are looking to modernise their online presence and improve the look of their website. People often get a little carried away with the amount of quirky objects they want to add to their site and make it too personal rather than being able to take a step back and look at it from a visitors point of few.
Having a few rotating header images or a ticker showing latest news etc is not a massive problem and can sometimes work well on a website, be always be aware that you do not want to take the viewers focus away from the main message that you are trying to get across. I recently saw a website that had scrolling testimonials on the side where the box was expanding and shrinking all the time. They also had rotating header images and a small video playing in the side bar. I immediately left the site as I found it all too distracting and could not concentrate on the main information that I was interested in. Its all about getting the right balance and any good web design company will be able to guide you in the right direction.
